Former paramilitary confesses to murder of 29

Demobilized and extradited former paramilitary leader ‘Pablo Sevillano’
voluntarily admitted to the murder of 29 people, among them trade unionist Libio
Hernandez.

The paramilitary also revealed that his paramilitary group ‘Libertadores del Sur’ illegally imported weapons from Panama and Nicaragua.

Guillermo ‘Pablo Sevillano’ Perez Alzate, told a Florida court that he murdered unionist Hernandez on April 16 2002, verdadabierta.com reported Monday.

He declined to give a reason but also admitted to murdering another 28 people during his time in the paramilitary between 2002 and 2004 in Pasto and Tumaco, in the southern department of Nariño.

He also revealed that between 1997 and 1999 he bought numerous rifles, machine guns and ammunition, whch arrived in Colombia via Panama and Nicaragua.

‘Pablo Sevillano’ was the leader of paramilitary group ‘Libertadores del Sur’. He demobilized with 689 of his men and women on July 30, 2005. he is believed to be responsible for 1,660 murders and had previously admitted to 120 of them, according to verdadabierta.com.

He was extradited to the U.S. on May 13, 2008 and is currently on trial for drug trafficking charges in Florida.
