Former minister joins investment bank

Colombia’s former Foreign Minister Jaime Bermudez has been appointed president of the Colombian branch of investment bank MBA Lazard, the bank announced Tuesday.

“Jaime’s appointment at MBA Lazard offers great benefit to our clients in Colombia and in the region,” said Alejandro F. Reynal, Chairman and CEO of the company. “Jaime’s years of government work, along with his extensive business experience and knowledge of international business affairs brings a unique perspective to our clients and complements the strong team that we have built in Colombia,” MBA Lazard said in a press statement.

Bermudez was foreign minister under former President Alvaro Uribe from 2008 until the end of the cabinet’s term earlier this year.
