Former army chief wanted for Justice Palace disappearances

Former commander of the Colombian Army, general Arias Cabrales is
wanted by authorities for his alleged role in the disappearance of twelve
people during the Palace of Justice drama in the 1980’s that left over 100 people dead.

The prosecution ordered the arrest of retired army general Jesús Armando Arias Cabrales for the possible kidnapping and forced disappearance of the civilians.

The Palace of Justice drama  began when guerrillas of M-19 occupied the
building and held teh complete Supreme Court hostage. The army attacked
the building, killing over a 100 people, including 11 Supreme Court
magistrates. Eleven civilians and one guerrilla disappeared.
