Ex-Anncol editor charged for FARC ties

The editor of Swedish-based website Anncol, which has been linked to the FARC guerrilla group, was indicted on charges of aggravated conspiracy and financing terrorist groups on Monday.

The Colombian-born Swedish citizen Joaquin Perez Becerra stood before a Bogota judge where the prosecution also presented documented evidence found after “Operation Sodom,” in which FARC military commander Victor Julio Suarez, alias “Mono Jojoy,” was killed.

Perez Becerra’s Anncol newspaper has a notorious pro-FARC stance, and the former editor himself has been accused by the Colombian administration as being, “the ringleader of the FARC’s international front in Europe,” after 800 emails were publicized linking him to the guerilla organization.

The preliminary hearing will take place on the 17 and 18 of November.
