Five die in plane crash

Five people died Wednesday when an instruction airplane of Colombia’s airforce crashed near La Dorada, Caldas.

The airplane had taken off from an army airport in Puerto Salgar, Cundinamarca to perform a training mission, but crashed because of mechanical failure, authorities say.

The airplane, an AC-47, crashed in a village called El Purnio, no more than 5 mile from the airbase it had taken off from.

A technical team of the armed forces went to the crash site to investigate what had been the exact reason for the crash.
