First Holiday Inn opens in Colombia

The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) opened its first Holiday Inn in Colombia, the company announced Tuesday.

The hotel, which is located just 10 minutes from Bogota’s Eldorado International Airport, has 191 rooms and eight stories. It is located in the booming city of El Salitre, an area in Bogota full of residential areas, recreational parks, and shopping and business centers.

IHG is no stranger to Colombia, with six hotels across four different brands. The company is planning on opening a second Holiday Inn later this year.

“We are excited to open the first of two Holiday Inn hotels that will open this year in Colombia, a market that IHG knows well…IHG has had a presence within the country for more than 50 years. Our growth in the Colombian market has been steady and we are committed to continue IHG’s multi-brand expansion in this thriving country” said IHG’s Latin American and Caribbean COO Alvaro Diago.

IHG is considered the world’s largest hotel group measured by rooms with 4,400 hotels holding 652,000 rooms in 100 countries and territories around the world.
