FARC will hand over more hostage videos: Cordoba

Colombia’s largest rebel group FARC will hand over more proof of life
videos during the coming days, opposition Senator and hostage mediator Piedad
Cordoba said on Tuesday. The families of two members of the armed forces
received videos of their loved ones on Monday.

“It is certain there will be more proofs of life. It is important to tell the other families there will be more proofs of life in the coming days. I understood that all proofs of life will arrive in series and that there will be 24 [videos],” the Senator said.

The Senator said the messengers used by the FARC to deliver the videos are terrified because of government actions to arrest them.

The FARC promised to release proof of life of all members of the security forces currently in rebel captivity. The FARC wants to exchange these hostages for guerrillas in U.S. and Colombian prisons. Besides these “exchangeable” hostages, the FARC is accused of holding hundreds of civilians hostage for extortion purposes.
