‘FARC wanted to attack Bogota councilors’

Rebels of Colombia’s largest rebel group FARC were planning an
attack on eleven members of Bogota’s city council, one of the local
lawmakers told Caracol Radio
.

According to councilor Dario Fernando Cepeda of Cambio Radical, the Prosecution sent a letter to the Mayor’s Office to warn about the alleged threat to members of Cambio Radical in the council. The guerrillas allegedly had planned an attack for last Friday.

The lawmaker told the radio station that the supposedly threatened councilors never were informed about the seriousness of the alleged threats, despite having asked information for weeks.

The local politicians have asked extra security measures to protect them from possible attacks.
