FARC propose ‘anti-imperialist committees’ to resist US military

The FARC proposed that inhabitants along the Colombia-Venezuela border form ‘anti-imperialism committees’ to fight against Colombia’s military pact with the U.S., which they see as an imperialist attack on the region.

According to a FARC press release, the pact seeks to “convert Colombia into a U.S. military base” so the nation can be used as “a spearhead of the master of the North to impede social development like that in Venezuela”.

The press release said that Washington is fostering conflict between Colombia and Venezuela so that Colombia will step in do the U.S’s “dirty work” and take down Venezuelan socialism.

The press release called on Colombians and Venezuelans to unite against North American imperialism.

Colombia and the U.S recently signed a military pact that grants the U.S. access to seven bases in Colombia.

Venezuela views the pact as a strategy hatched by Bogota and Washington to destabilize the socialist country and undermine its sovereignty and has frozen all diplomatic ties with Colombia.
