FARC prepare ‘intense’ year-end offensive: Anncol

There are indications that the FARC are preparing an “intense” offensive against state security forces that is planned for the end of the year, FARC-friendly news agency Anncol reported on Wednesday.

In a poorly written article, the news agency claims that “the FARC’s military confrontation is expanding throughout the country. Everything indicates that … new members sign up and get ready to forcefully strike against the armed forces.”

According to Anncol, the “army, navy and police are at the losing end of this confrontation boosted by Bogota and Washington.”

The Sweden-based news agency predicts the administration of President Juan Manuel Santos is pushing “the Colombian oligarchy to a cliff” and that “it is a matter of time for the construction of the New Colombia.”

Following a decade-long military offensive by Colombia’s U.S.-backed military, the FARC has been pushed to the periphery of the country. Official estimates say the guerrilla group declined from 20,000 to 7,000 members in the past ten years.
