The father of FARC hostage Pablo Emilio Moncayo sued President Uribe to legally force him to help in the release of his son.
The Colombian government has received criticism from Moncayo’s family before for not allowing opposition senator Piedad Cordoba to mediate the release of Moncayo, who has been in FARC captivity for more than 11 years.
The release now is deadlocked, because the FARC insists Cordoba plays a role.
Professor Gustavo Moncayo will present an appeal before the High Court of Cundinamarca to force Uribe to allow Cordoba as mediator, El Espectador reported.
President Alvaro Uribe has repeatedly confirmed that the only ones authorized for the release of Moncayo are the International Red Cross and the Catholic Church.
