FARC guerrillas kill 2 policemen

Two police officers were killed in a FARC guerrilla attack in central Colombia, authorities announced Sunday.

The two security officials were shot dead by snipers on patrol in the central Meta department, police General Sagoberto Garcia told RCN Radio.

The policemen were taken to nearby hospitals in San Jose de Guaviare, but died of their wounds several hours after the attack.

The army sent reinforcements to the region to re-establish order.
