‘FARC explosives expert’ arrested in Medellin

Authorities in Colombia’s second largest city Medellin arrested on Friday an alleged explosives expert and hitman from rebel guerrilla group FARC.

According to newspaper El Espectador, the alleged explosives expert, alias “Noraldo,” was detained while hiding in a house in the Castilla neighborhood in the northwest of Medellin, consequently sustaining wounds during the capture operation, reported newspaper El Meridiano.

Noraldo has allegedly been the FARC’s explosive expert for the past 12 years and a valuable figure in the Santa Rita battalion, a part of FARC’s larger 18th Front.

Not only was Noraldo one of the FARC’s explosive experts for the past 12 years but he was also allegedly culpable for recruiting minors to the guerrilla group and a former henchman and hitman for Santa Rita’s leader, alias “Agustin” or “Reyes,” reported El Espectador.
