‘FARC and ELN worked together in attack’

Colombia’s two largest rebel groups FARC and ELN worked together in an attack that killed three police officers in the south, the country’s defense minister said Tuesday.

The unusual cooperation between the two illegal armed groups, who in some parts of the country are at war with each other, is thought to be the result of an army offensive that led to the demobilization of six guerrillas on Monday and 28 guerrillas in operations in different part of the country over the past two weeks.

This Nariño attack brings the death toll of members of the armed forces due to guerrilla attacks to 27 in less than a week.
