Experience ‘The 7 Wonders of the Ancient World’ near Bogota

Travellers to Bogota would do well to visit the Parque Jaime Duque, situated about 30 minutes away in the town of Tocancipa, Cundinamarca.

The park features a wide variety of attractions designed to cater to all ages. The “Monumento a Dios” (Monument to God) is a central symbol of the park, consisting of a giant hand, 38 metres high, supporting a globe that is 25 metres in diameter.

Parque Jaime Duque’s newest attraction is “The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World,” offering accurate replicas of some historical masterpieces. The park also contains many other impressive monuments such as the “Fontana Mitologia” (Mythological Fountain) and the “Monumento a la Nacionalidad” (National Monument), on top of an array of educational activities and rides for kids.

The park was created by pilot Jaime Duque in 1983 with the express aim of establishing a cultural and ecological center for the whole family to enjoy, both recreationally and educationally. On top of the numerous cultural attractions, there is a zoo containing an extensive diversity of animals.

Although the park is non-profit, maintenance costs mean that tickets are not free. Prices range from $4.00 (COP7,500) to $15.00 (COP28,000). For more information on what the park has to offer, as well as the opening and closing times, see their website.
