Ex-presidential adviser in court over sex assault claims

The former director of the presidential program on human rights appeared before a Bogota court Wednesday to answer to sexual assault charges.

The allegations were made in November 2011 by female colleague Lina Maria Castro Torres, who claimed that Tomas Ernesto Concha sexually assaulted her on a number of occasions in December 2010.

The scandal forced Concha to resign from his post and prompted a disciplinary investigation by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

Concha has represented Colombia in various international tribunals, particularly in cases relating to the rights of minorities.
