Colombian security forces capture alias “Tigre,” a former AUC paramilitary accused of murdering eight people in the western department of Valle del Cauca, W Radio reported Monday.
Tigre was apprehended by security forces in the Bosa area of southwest Bogota.
The alleged member of the Calima Bloc of the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC) was brought in on charges of murder, forced disappearance, torture, conspiracy, and manufacturing, possessing and trafficking arms.
The Prosecutor General’s office, the Criminal Investigation Department and Interpol were involved in the apprehension and prosecution of Tigre.
According to reports Tigre was involved in the March 28, 2003 massacre of eight people in the village of Dagua in the Valle del Cauca department. The eight victims were forced on to a bus and executed.
The bodies of Celio Montenegro Navia, Hector Fabio Jimenez Alvarez, Jairo Bladimir Vallejo, Edinson Ordoñez Pachichana, Francisco Lopez and Alexander Lopez were found in mass graves in Dagua months later. Two other bodies are still in the process of being identified, reported W Radio.
According to Caracol Radio, at the time of the massacre,the Calima Bloc distributed leaflets to townspeople saying that the victims were killed for collaborating with the FARC.
