Colombian national police on Tuesday arrested a member of guerrilla group ELN who was wanted for the kidnapping of United States citizen Jose Yesid Ceballos.

The suspected criminal was intercepted by police in Facatativa, a municipality in the central department of Cundinamarca, where he had been using false identity documents.

The ELN member, for whom an arrest warrant was issued in 2007, will be charged with crimes committed against the 70-year-old North American who was abducted from a country house in Quindio, central Colombia, in August 2004 and released some months later following payment of a ransom.

Three other men were arrested for the same offense in 2004 and 2005.
