ELN guerrillas desert rebel ranks

Eleven guerrillas of the ELN deserted Colombia’s second largest
rebel group in the south of the country, the army announced Sunday.

According to army sources, three small groups deserted the ELN in the Nariño department, making up a total of eleven guerrillas.

Most of the deserted spent more then ten years in the jungle fighting against the State.

Army General Roberto Payán said the rebels will be taking part in the country’s reintegration program.
