An earthquake of magnitude 6.6 struck off the Pacific coast of Colombia on Tuesday. There are no reports of human injury nor damage to buildings.
The earthquake struck at 10:43 on Tuesday morning in the Pacific ocean, 50 miles west of Nuqui, Choco. It was felt across much of western Colombia.
The director of the country’s disaster management agency, Carlos Ivan Marquez, ruled out the possibility of a tsunami but did warn of increased swell along the coast.
The strongest earthquake to hit Colombia since records began struck in 1970 and measured 8.0 on the Richter scale. One person died.
