A Bogota policeman who was arrested for drunk driving died Wednesday morning after shooting himself in the head.
The cop had been arrested after being involved in a traffic accident in the Fontibon district and was taken to a nearby police station to be tested for alcohol use.
The man had crashed into a taxi, fled, but was apprehended after the taxi driver and his colleagues followed the drunk cop to his home where armed police officers were able to arrest him.
The arrested man shot himself in the head while being escorted to be tested for alcohol. He died before arriving at a nearby hospital.
Bogota authorities are investigating the case.
