Bogota’s nine officially most beautiful women began their last days of a weeks-long competition to decide who will represent the capital at Miss Colombia.
The final and decisive event of the beauty pageant is held Thursday evening after which the winner has four months to prepare for one Colombia’s most important events of the year, Miss Colombia 2011.
“It’s an interesting process because once the represntative is elected, her preparation to go to Cartagena has already gone a long way. In the months the election takes they learn to be beauty queens,” fashion designer and jury member Alfredo Barraza told newspaper El Tiempo, one of the main sponsors of the Bogota events.
Miss Colombia will be held during the annual November festival of Cartagena and is one of the most-watched televized events of the year.
