‘Don Berna’ pleads not guilty before U.S. court

Don Berna’ was the “inspector general” of the United Self Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC) and was in charge of over 600 men and women working for the paramilitary organization. ‘Don Berna’ was in charge of several ‘Bloques’ of the AUC and was the paramilitary head in Colombia’s second largest city, Medellín.Murillo and twelve other heads of the AUC were extradited to the U.S. Tuesday in a surprise move by the Colombian Government.The judge ruled the Murillo trial will begin on September 16. Until then, both prosecution and defense can gather evidence of guilt or innocence.
