Colombia’s prison authority INPEC is investigating whether DMG director
David Murica had access to a mobile phone in jail after he personally
tried mobilizing people from his cell in Bogota’s Picota prison.
Murcia was accused of having an illegal mobile phone after promoting his campaign for the Senate election in 2010 and the forming of a company to follow up his shut-down DMG.
The Prosecution must now investigate whether the calls were made from the authorized phone for inmates in the prison or if he had an illegal phone, Teresa Moya, director of INPEC, told El Espectador Tuesday.
Murcia is on trial for illicit enrichment and laundering money for drug lords. He surprisingly announced his plans to run for the Senate in the 2010 election. The political party Apertura Liberal said last week to support Murcia in his campaign.
