A group of around 60 displaced Colombians took over the Bogota headquarters of Accion Social, Colombia’s presidential aid agency, to protest against the government’s delay in providing them with promised aid and subsidies.

Aideyby Obando, the group’s spokesman, told Radio Santa Fe that she and her fellow protesters demanded that Accion Social provide them with adequate housing and the humanitarian aid that they are entitled to.

Obando also said she wished to return to her home, but was unable to because there is no guarantee of the security there.

The displaced leader said her group had met with Accion Social various times, but that the rights of the displaced continue to be neglected and so they decided to hold a protest. She said the protesters plan to remain in the building until they are presented with a solution to their problems.
