Obama desperately trying to avoid Uribe at G8 summit

United States President Barack Obama was seen rushing from a press conference in Toronto, Canada on Friday after a State Department official notified him Colombian President Alvaro Uribe was looking for him.

The Colombian President had earlier told press he would be looking for his American counterpart to lobby the approval of a free trade agreement between Colombia and the U.S. while both leaders are in Canada to attend a G8 summit.

Obama allegedly is bored with Uribe’s ongoing attempts to secure an FTA between the two allies as he is facing increasing criticism on his country’s advances in the war in Afghanistan, his dealings with the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and his inability to create jobs.

Uribe, unaware of Obama’s full political agenda, is trying to secure a number of personal business interests he and his sons have before leaving office in August.
