Director of Michael Jackson videos launches training project in Colombia

The artistic director of four music videos of Michael Jackson will
launch a training project for young Colombians and will produce
two animated films in Colombia.

Guatemalan Carlos Argüello announced the opening of a branch of his company “Studio C” in Bogota in the next couple of weeks. 200 young Colombians will be trained in order to “develop the animation industry in Colombia”, El Espectador reported Monday.

After two decades devoted to special effects in Hollywood, Argüello returned to Guatemala in 2001 and decided to bring the world of cinema to minors in his country through a “special education”.

“Studio C” has already branches in Mexico and Costa Rica.

“We are talking with the Government and the SENA (National Education Service) to begin with an educational training movie in the coming weeks and are arranging the finances to produce two movies here in Colombia”, Argüello explained.

According to the artistic director, the animation industry is not yet developed in Colombia but there are “many talented young people” and there is a lot of interest and potential in the country.

Argüello did the video “Black or White” for Michael Jackson, among others. “It is very interesting to have known and worked with a pop icon like him”, he said after learning about the death of King of Pop.
