Court workers end strike

Members of court workers union Asonal have agreed with the government’s
proposal for a 150 billion peso (US$75 million) financial injection to
increase wages in the judicial sector. The agreement ends a 44 day
almost complete judicial shut down.

According to the government, more than 2,700 persons arrested for murder, drug trafficking and the illegal carrying of weapons had to be released because the legal time for their indiction expirexpired, more than 120 thousand trials were delayed and 25 thousand hearings are waiting to be processed.

The Bogotá chapter of the union has not agreed with ending the strike yet.
