The Supreme Court of Justice Wednesday opened its investigation into
Congressmen who allegedly received notaries after voting in favor of
Colombian President
Alvaro Uribe’s 2006 re-election.
The court sent testimony given by the former Superintendent of Notary and Registry Manuel Cuello Baute to the Prosecutor General.
Cuello Baute alleged that the Presidency issued notaries to people connected to Congressmen who voted for Uribe’s re-election. The former Superintendent also alleged that Uribe was aware of the operation.
Court president Julio
Enrique Socha will reveal in the next few hours which Congressmen are allegedly involved.
