Colombia’s Prosecutor General’s Office announced Monday it will drop corruption charges against the son of former President Alvaro Uribe.
Tomas Uribe, the former President’s eldest son, faced charges of using his political influence to have a notary assigned to a political ally, following accusations by former notary supervisor Manuel Cuelle Vaute in 2010.
However, according to the prosecutor’s office, there is not enough evidence to justify a continuation of the investigation and Uribe will be absolved of charges.
The investigation against the former President’s son are part of a larger investigation regarding the alleged corrupt assignment of notary offices in return for political favors.
