Corrupt senator stripped of power

A Colombian senator implicated in the Bogota corruption scandal of 2010 was stripped of power by the Council of State, officially barring him from holding office for 20 years.

The dignity of Ivan Moreno Rojas, former senator and brother of disgraced Bogota mayor Samuel Moreno, was found to be “incompatible” with his office after he used his politcal leverage

The Inspector General Alejandro Ordoñez described Moreno’s conduct as “very serious” and said, “He entered the district administration through officials and contractors who made illegal pacts which distorted the process of hiring in the capital of the Republic.”

The trial of Moreno has broken Colombian records due to the 250 hours of audio recordings and 30,000 pages of documents used as evidence.
