Correa rules out military offensive against FARC

Correa said in a radio interview “there is no way” when asked about the possibility of a military alliance with Peru and Colombia against the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).”It has been our position: not to get involved in a conflict that is not ours, to have solidarity with Colombia, to look for a pacific and diplomatic way out, but never to get involved in that military plan that belongs to Colombia,” Correa added. The bordering area between Ecuador and Colombia is a stage for frequent combat among armed groups, who sometimes cross the border to escape government troops.Ecuador severed ties with Colombia after a diplomatic row in March, during which Ecuador accused Colombia of trespassing on its territory in a cross-border attack on the FARC, while Colombia hinted that Ecuador harbored the armed rebels.(Xinhua)
