Copa Mustang: Tolima back on top

Tolima are back on top in the Colombian Copa Mustang following a 1-0
win over La Equidad. The Ibagué outfit are followed by Boyacá Chicó and
Junior of Barranquilla.

A penalty goal from Dario Bustos was enough for Deportes Tolima to earn a 1-0 win over La Equidad at Manuel Murillo Toro stadium. To get there, the home side had to survive most of the match with ten men as Amu Arrechea was sent off after just 29 minutes.

Boyacá Chicó moved back into second place thanks to a narrow victory at Pasto. The only goal of the match was scored by Miguel Caneo, five minutes after the interval.

Junior impressed with a 4-0 victory over Huila. Norbey Orozco and Giovanni Hernández scored in the first half, followed by second-half goals from Teófilo Gutiérrez and Luis Yanez.

Envigado drew 1-1 with last-placed Nacional and dropped from second to fourth place. Nacional were in fact close to victory thanks to an 83rd-minute goal from Sergio Galván but Jorge Serna equalised six minutes later.

Deportivo Cali earned a 2-1 win over Real Cartagena with goals from Jarol Herrera (25th) and Pablo Batalla, shortly after the break. Edwards Jiménez scored the only away goal on 73 minutes.

Deportes Quindío remained in the top eight thanks to a 2-0 win over a struggling América. Pedro Ortega netted the opener in the 16th minute and Sebastián Hernández converted a penalty near the half time whistle. The penalty was initially blocked by the keeper, who was judged to have left his goal too early. In a second attempt, Hernández was more successful.

Once Caldas recorded a rather easy 3-0 victory over Santa Fe in Manizales. Jorge Casanova opened the score on 24 minutes and goals from Johan Fano and Ariel Carreño in the second half left the Bogotá visitors gasping for breath.

The match with Millonarios and Pereira could not have had a stranger ending. Two first-half goals from Carmelo Valencia left the hosts leading comfortably, but Edinson Toloza got one back for Pereira in the 80th minute. And the best was yet to come, at least for the away side, as Julián Barahona levelled in minute 89 and Mario Giménez made it 2-3 in added time.
