Copa Mustang: Cartagena hold Medellín, Pereira beat Cali

Independiente Medellín were held to a 1-1 draw by Real Cartagena on
Thursday, while Deportivo Pereira earned a slightly surprising 1-0 win
over Deportivo Cali.

Just a day after facing Sao Paulo in the Copa Libertadores, Medellín had to be back in shape to host Cartagena. As the match was, astoundingly, not postponed, DIM were forced to field a number of second-choice players.

Newly promoted Cartagena took the lead through Alexander Anaya on 52 minutes but the hosts at least secured a point as Giovanny López made it 1-1 in the 70th minute.

Pereira needed just one goal to earn three points from their clash with Deportivo Cali, and it was Julián Barahona to beat the opposing goalkeeper in the 62nd minute.

Junior, América and Chicó share the lead with seven points from three games. Cali are currently in seventh place, Cartagena are tenth, Pereira are 12th and Medellin are to be found in 16th place.
