Computers containing corruption evidence stolen

Computers containing information on a “contract carousel” corruption scandal were stolen from the Bogota residence of the Director of the Institute of Urban Development, reported local media.

Police are investigating the robbery at the house of Maria Fernanda Rojas, which happened in the early hours of Saturday morning. Thieves took only the computers, leaving money, jewels and other valuable objects untouched.

In confirming the robbery of the computers, Rojas said, “They contained […] work-related information. They had some research data on the city and contracts in the district.”

The contract carousel is an ongoing investigation into corruption and irregularities related to public construction bidding in Bogota, a scandal in which the capital’s former mayor Samuel Moreno Rojas has been implicated.
