Colombian unemployment figures dropped to the lowest levels in 11 years, according to the state statistic office (DANE) in a report on Friday.
National unemployment rates hit 10.9% in July this year, down from 11.5% at the same time last year.
The industries that accounted for the most employment were trade, restaurants and hotels at 27.2%. The unemployment rate of heads of households was low at 5.7%, while an extremely high percentage of workers were self-employed (43.3%).
Pretoria, Popayan and Pereira were the cities with the highest number of unemployed people, while the Caribbean coastal towns of Baranquilla, Santa Marta and Cartagena had the lowest rates.
The director of DANE Jorge Bustamante said the labor market is very dynamic which is reflected in the overall numbers, reported W Radio.
