Colombian cyclist Mauricio Soler has been flown home six months after a life-threatening crash in the Tour of Switzerland, the Colombian cycling federation announced Tuesday.
According to the federation’s press release, “this is great news for teh cycling family as 2011 comes to a close.”
Soler, winner of the polkadot jersey in the 2007 Tour deFrance, has spent recuperating since mid-June after a crash in the sixth stage of the Tour of Switzerland, due to which he suffered a severe head trauma and cerebral oedema, plus multiple fractures and bruising. He was placed in an induced coma to aid recovery.
The Colombian cyclist will continue his recovery in Bogota’s Teleton Clinic.
