German side Borussia Dortmund and English giants Liverpool are both interested in Colombian striker Jackson Martinez to strengthen their ranks for the next soccer season, European media reported Monday.

Dortmund director Hans Joachim Watzke admitted to German tabloid Bild having traveled to Portugal, where Martinez’s FC Porto was playing Benfica, to look for new players, but wouldn’t mention Martinez explicitly.

“Apparently we were spotted in Porto. It’s true that we were there. This is the time to do our homework. We have to look everywhere, which interesting players there are on the market.”

Jackson, who started off in Medellin before playing in Mexico and Portugal, has been with Porto since last year.

Dortmund is looking to strengthen their offense as striker Robert Lewandowski is expected to transfer to Bayern Munich at the end of this season.

If Dortmund decides to bid on the Colombian striker, they might have to do so alongside Liverpool FC, British media reported. The “Reds” will have to secure a strong offense as Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez is tipped to replace Radamel Falcao, arguably Colombia’s best player at the moment, at Atletico Madrid.
