Colombia’s ex-intelligence director Maria del Pilar Hurtado refused to comment to Panamanian press as she met with former president Alvaro Uribe’s lawyers Monday.
Pilar, the former director of Colombia’s now defunct intelligence agency DAS, fled to Panama as a poltical asylum-seeker in November 2010, amid an illegal wiretapping scandal that led to the organization’s demise.
Representatives of the International Human Rights Federation and the Lawyers Guild have lobbied the government of Panama to revoke Pilar’s asylum status.
In response, former boss Uribe sent a group of lawyers to Panama on Pilar’s behalf.
Panama has announced it will make a decision within the next 15 days.
