Colombians increasingly optimistic about security: Poll

Colombian citizens were feeling better about their city’s security in July than two months before, according to a poll released Monday.

According to the “Mood of the Country” index compiled by pollster YanHaas, 41.1% of the 1,100 respondents considered their city “very unsafe,” which is 1.2 percentage points less than two months before.

18.5% of the inhabitants of Colombia’s 11 largest cities considered their city “very safe.” In May, 15.1% of Colombia’s urban dwellers answered the same.

Inhabitants of Manizales, Pereira, Ibague and Bucaramanga responded most optimistically about their cities’ security situation, while the cities of Cali, Pasto, Barranquilla and Bogota were considered most insecure by their inhabitants.
