Colombian soldiers kill 2 guerrillas in armed clash

Military forces killed two FARC members in an attack in northwestern Colombia, local media reported Friday.

One of the slain guerillas, alias “Orbis,” was allegedly responsible for a 2002 attack that killed 117 civilians in Bojaya, a municipality in the western department of Choco. Orbis, who has fought with the rebel group for 11 years, was also wanted for the assassination of 17 police and two civilians in 2006.

The attack was part of a military operation being carried out in a rural zone in the department of Cordoba.

The other guerilla killed in the attack, alias “Natalia,” had been with the FARC for 14 years.
