Police seize 2 tons of marijuana in southwestern Colombia

Colombian police on Wednesday said they have seized 2.3 tons of marijuana in the southwestern part of the country.

In an operation in department of Valle del Cauca, Colombian police seized 2,3 tons of the illicit drug hidden in a vehicle. According to police investigation, the truck was on its way to Medellin, the country’s second largest city. 

The operation near the town of El Cerrito was carried out after police investigation assumed the vehicle contained drugs. The 40-year old driver was arrested in the operation.

According to the police, this one seizure prevented 2 million of drug doses to be distributed in the city of Medellin.

In two separate operations in the same department earlier this month, police claimed to have seized 6,5 tons of marijuana.
