Colombian police arrest 11 ‘Los Rastrojos’ suspects

Police arrested several alleged members of the drug-trafficking organization “Los Rastrojos” in the north of Colombia Monday

Between eight and 11 people were captured in the northern department of Magdalena as part of Operation Republica II. They are being charged with aggravated homicide, conspiracy and extortion committed in the region Montes de Maria.

As part of the operation, police also seized 47 9mm cartridges, $1,040 in cash in Colombian pesos, a 38 caliber revolver, six missiles, and two Blackberry cellular phones.

According to police, among those captured are the first and second-in-command of Los Rastrojos in the departments of Bolivar and Sucre, who orchestrated the transfer of cocaine out of the north of Bolivar.
