Colombian poet Nicanor Velez dies at 52

Colombian poet Nicanor Velez has died in the Spanish city of Barcelona, his publishing company announced Wednesday.

The 52-year old Velez gained international recognition for his poetry books “La Memoria del Tacto,” “La Luz que Papadea” and “La Vida que Respira.”

The Medellin-born poet left Colombia in 1981 and has been living in France and Spain where he edited a number of collected poetry books.
