Colombian Interior Minister resigns

“I think I have fulfilled a satisfying task. I am happy that the time has come to retire, which is what I told the President last night,” Holguín said in his first statements to the media after handing in his resignation to the presidency.”I feel extremely proud and happy to have collaborated with the government of President Uribe, but now it’s time to deal with other issues,” Holguín said.Regarding possible running for president he said he is “available to the Conservative Party, the Colombians and my family”.Holguín will be replaced by Fabio Valencia Cossio, a member of Holguín’s Conservative Party and currently representative in the department of Antioquia.
