Colombian govt inaugurates new ministers

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos inaugurated a new secretary general along with new ministers of the interior and housing Thursday in Bogota.

“I think that the government is greatly strengthened with these three players on the team in new positions,” said President Santos, welcoming the three officials that occupied other government posts before their appointments.

The new interior minister, Federico Renjifo Velez, previously secretary general of the presidency, overtook the title from new Minister of Housing German Vargas Lleras.

Secretary General of the Presidency Juan Mesa Zuleta ran communications for the Santos administration for nearly two years before his appointment to the new position.

The cabinet members were swore in by the head of state in a ceremony at Colombia’s presidential palace, la Casa de Nariño.
