Colombian tennis player Alejandro Falla is through to the second round of Roland Garros after beating Serbian Janko Tipsarevic in his opening match.
Falla, 26, dominated from the start and won the first set 6-1. The second set ended 6-2 and a 6-3 result in the third set was more than enough for the Cali-born player to advance to the next round.
In that second round, Falla is very likely to face the world’s number one Roger Federer, a match in which the Colombian would have very little to lose and a lot to win.
Falla played his first Grand Slam in 2004 and has reached a second round eight times before, including three times in Paris. However, he has never managed to reach a third round.
