Colombian ballet troupe to perform in US

Colombia’s Ballet Folklorico de Antioquia will perform in New York next month.

The company aims to produce “shows inspired by the cultural wealth of Colombia, where diversity, precision, and feeling are evident in an impeccable performance.” Audiences have called it a “spectacular show of lights, music and dance.”

The group features 20 dancers and eight musicians, and has numerous international performances to its credit.

Ballet Folklorico’s many awards include Gold Medal at the Stylized Folk Olympics in France, the title of “Perfeccion” at the 25th annual International Festival in Quebec, and special recognition as the best Latin American company to take part in the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.

It will perform Tuesday, February 28, at New York State University, Buffalo.
