Colombian painter and sculptor Omar Rayo died Monday after a heart attack at the age of 82, his family said.
The internationally renowned artist was taken to a hospital in Cali, in south-western Colombia, but could not be saved.
Colombian President Alvaro Uribe said that Rayo’s death was “sad news.”
Rayo was best known for his abstract geometrical work, mostly using a palate of black, white and red. He lived in New York for most of his professional life. (DPA)
