The Colombian army say they killed Jesús Agudelo ‘El Paisa’ Rodríguez, commander of the FARC’s 34th front in an airstrike on the border of the Chocó and Antioquia departments.
El Paisa became notorious after ordering the murder of former Antioquia governor Guillermo Gaviria Correa, one of his advisers and seven soldiers while they were in FARC captivity.
The bombardement followed a four month intelligence operation that succesully tried to locate the FARC commander.
The body of ‘El Paisa’, one of the guerrillas most wanted by the army, was identified by ground forces who entered the camp after the airstrike.
